The Hard Tip Fudenosuke uses a firm Grade 1 elastomer brush nib, stiffer than a typical brush pen tip, which makes it easier to control for anyone still learning brush lettering — it resists flopping sideways or splaying out the way a softer brush tip can under uneven pressure. Pressing down slightly thickens the downstroke, and lifting up brings it back to a fine line, giving real calligraphic variation without needing the more advanced hand control a soft brush tip demands.

That firmness also makes it small enough to stay legible inside 5 mm dot-grid squares, which is why it gets used heavily for filling in tracker numbers, small grid labels, and tight script headers in bullet journals — spaces where a softer, broader tip would blur across the lines. The ink is a water-based black pigment that dries smear-resistant and stands up to a highlighter pass without bleeding.
