Graffiti Avantgarde documents Moses & Taps' work from 2011 to 2020 across 544 pages with over 2,000 photos. The monograph explores how they navigate between train-bombing and their existence as artists, showing these two worlds don't have to be opposites. Ten chapters cover their broad practice - from train pieces across Russia to the USA, conceptual works on rolling stock, scratchiti on glass panes, canvas work, and style development.
The book opens with an interview by criminologist Ike examining what defines the graffiti avant-garde. Chapters include Topsprayer (train stories), Splash (leaving colorful traces without fat caps and letters), a 176-page section by Alias with action photos by Edward Nightingale, Scratchiti (glass work from yard to museum), Corporate Identity (decoding Moses & Taps' CI codes), Image of Graffiti (why graffiti must be illegal and how to create canvas versions), Creative Destruction (collage-like installations), and Concept Vandalism (unique conceptual train works). Two final chapters detail their personal style evolution.
